Having opened exhibition spaces in Copenhagen, Beijing, and Venice, Danish art dealer-turned-philanthropist Jens Faurschou now debuts his New York space, located in Brooklyn’s Greenpoint neighborhood. The exhibition of nearly 20 contemporary works, which takes its name from a Chinese Tang Dynasty poem, highlights Faurschou’s strong connection to China and its art: two major pieces by Cai Guo-Qiang and Ai Weiwei find their place among works by Louise Bourgeois, Tracey Emin, Anselm Kiefer, Yoko Ono, and others. It also includes large-scale installations (a 1985 work by Edward Kienholz and Nancy Reddin Kienholz, The Ozymandias Parade, nearly takes up a whole room of the new space). “I like that they take you completely in,” Faurschou recently said of the bigger works. “You become part of the piece.” —J.V.
