After four long years of construction, Penn State’s redesigned Palmer Museum of Art is finally poised to open its doors to the public. Located on the 370 acres of lush flora that comprise the university’s arboretum, the new design includes specially-tinted windows that maximize natural light and a minimalist sandstone exterior that pays homage to the geology of Central Pennsylvania. To mark the much anticipated opening, a large-scale installation by the renowned American glass artist Dale Chihuly will be on view for the first time. Titled “Lupine Blue Persian Wall,” the installation consists of 22 blossom-like glass forms, all appropriately rendered in the Penn State colors of blue and white. —Paulina Prosnitz
