Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power

June 27 – Aug 30, 2020
1001 Bissonnet St, Houston, TX 77005, USA

In 1970, Coretta Scott King said, “Women, if the soul of a nation is to be saved, I believe that you must become its soul.” Substitute the word “artists” for “women” and you have the acclaimed exhibition “Soul of a Nation,” which celebrates African American art created from 1963 to 1983. Organized by the Tate Modern in London, the exhibition now lands in its final venue, in Houston. —J.V.
