Sacha Floch Poliakoff: These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

Sacha Floch Poliakoff, Alexis, 2021.

Jan 6–28, 2023
10b Rue Roger, 75014 Paris, France

Serge Poliakoff was a Russian artist who settled in Paris in 1923. Influenced by Wassily Kandinsky and Robert Delaunay, he was among those who embraced modernism in painting, using bold patches of color and non-representational composition to radical effect. His great granddaughter Sacha Floch Poliakoff is only 25 years old, but she’s already illustrated magazines, book covers, and even the interiors of Mon Square, a hip restaurant in Rue Saint-Dominique, in Paris. Sacha studied at the School of Beaux Arts, but also spent a semester at New York’s School of Visual Art, which she says was “initially a visual shock, but now I seem to have this double vision, French and American.” For her first solo show at a gallery, Poliakoff is presenting a series of ink and watercolor drawings, black-and-white collages, and paintings—20 works in all. —Elena Clavarino
