Robyn O’Neil conjures up a world of ancient battles, natural disasters, and impending doom. In the midst of vast landscapes she places unknown men. The figures are silhouettes—tiny, sad souls battling against the immensity of natural forces. “Not only are these shadow images conjuring up the people I mourn, I’m also referencing and celebrating the very origins of art-making,” says O’Neil. “These are my cave paintings.” In this comprehensive exhibition, over 200 drawings from two decades are on view. —E.C.
