For more than six decades, Bruce Nauman, now 84, has made art out of the strange, the ordinary, and the occasionally disturbing. Working with neon lights and video, animal carcasses and industrial materials, Nauman has continually challenged what sculpture can be. This exhibition at the Nasher Sculpture Center revisits his fascination with the animal world. From the generic foam forms of coyotes and foxes—used by taxidermists to fill out their skins—Nauman makes unsettling sculptures that defy spatial logic. On weekends, the museum is screening Kara Walker’s new film, Cooking with Bruce of Whatever You Want, an intimate portrait of the artist at his New Mexico studio, where the two spend a day cooking, talking, and rummaging through Nauman’s belongings. —Elena Clavarino
