Recirculating Goods: Rodney McMillian

Streaming on Petzel

Crocheted and knitted objects are often handmade, and one imagines them created over the course of leisurely evenings by a fire. In a nod to this comforting notion of domesticity, Rodney McMillan uses colored latex to paint surreal landscapes on old homemade blankets and afghans. There’s a folk art element here, but it’s married to modernism. This is McMillan’s first show at Petzel gallery, available for online viewing. —E.C.
