To whomever’s in charge of choosing the films for re-release in IMAX’s immersive theaters—thank you! A few months ago, Christopher Nolan’s visually stunning Interstellar was brought to select locations across the U.S., and recently news leaked that Nolan’s The Dark Knight—another intense epic—would arrive in IMAX in late May. Before then, a different sort of movie is on the way. Hayao Miyazaki’s animated Princess Mononoke isn’t his most popular work; that title belongs to Spirited Away or Ponyo or Howl’s Moving Castle. But its plot is characteristically engaging. Embarking on a journey to absolve himself of a curse, a young prince faces various fantastic conflicts along the way. Above all, the animation and score of Princess Mononoke are beautiful, and will be more so in IMAX. —Jack Sullivan
