In 1992, the photographer Larry Sultan published Pictures From Home, a memoir. Naturally, he relied heavily on images to tell the story of his 1980s upbringing, which doubles as a story about the “all-American” suburban-family ideal that Ronald Reagan endlessly invoked. The playwright Sharr White has now adapted Sultan’s visual memoir for the stage. Premiering at Studio 54, the show is a funny and dramatic portrait of a mother and father constantly photographed by their son. Starring are Broadway veterans Nathan Lane, Danny Burstein, and Zoë Wanamaker. —Jensen Davis
