“Here in Sag Harbor we are often among giants in the arts, and once in awhile, talent and grace go hand in hand,” says the art dealer Julie Keyes. “Keyes Art is honored to present this combination of giants.” The giants she refers to are Paul Davis and Peter Solow. Born in Oklahoma in 1938, Paul Davis moved to New York in the 1950s to attend the School of Visual Arts. An illustrator and painter, Davis has designed numerous advertisements, book jackets, and book covers; he was also the art director for Joseph Papp’s New York Shakespeare Festival for several years. Unlike Davis, Peter Solow does not work in the commercial realm. Born in New York City in 1952, he paints, draws, and works in mixed media. “Whether on a seashore or in an unnamed metropolis,” wrote John Russell, the art critic of The New York Times, “Mr. Solow holds our attention.” —Jeanne Malle
