Palazzo Citterio Opening

Palazzo Citterio

Via Brera, 12, 20121 Milano MI

Even though the Brera neighborhood is arguably the epicenter of Milan’s social life, for some reason the magnificent Pinacoteca—a museum that is home to Francesco Hayez’s The Kiss, Andrea Mantegna’s Lamentation of Christ, Raphael’s The Marriage of the Virgin, and wonders by Giovanni Bellini, Rembrandt, and Caravaggio—is often overlooked. To increase the museum’s appeal, the city has refurbished an 18th-century palazzo out front and installed 200 modern and contemporary works, among them, Pablo Picasso’s Head of a Bull, Umberto Boccioni’s Rissa in Galleria, and a 1919 still life by Giorgio Morandi. Ticket holders will have access to both buildings. —Elena Clavarino
