In 2014, in his first solo exhibition, the Colombia-born and London-based artist Oscar Murillo transformed David Zwirner’s New York gallery into a chocolate factory, a nod to a plant in Murillo’s hometown of La Paila. Ever since, Murillo has gravitated toward painting, a medium in which he attempts to balance “image-making and mark-making, textures and form” with his “awareness of the world and my need to interpret it.” In this exhibition, Murillo’s latest paintings are on view, alongside “Frequencies,” a long-term collaborative project with school students, which he began in 2013. —Elena Clavarino
