The Talented Mr. Ripley makes you feel you’re on a trip. The interiors, costumes, and orange-y hue of Anthony Minghella’s 1999 film flies us back to the 1950s. And Italy, those images of the Amalfi Coast, Rome, Naples, and Venice, is dreamy enough to make anyone stuck in town feel they’ve gotten some time away. The movie hasn’t aged. It’s just as chilling no matter how many times you’ve seen it. Gwyneth Paltrow, Jude Law, Matt Damon, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Cate Blanchett are all young and all at their best. Catch them at Brooklyn Bridge Park’s outdoor screening, part of a summer-long program held on Thursdays. It’s free, and first come, first served. —Jeanne Malle
