After first meeting in 1917, Joan Miró and Pablo Picasso began a friendship in 1920, when both were living in Paris. A new joint exhibition, on view simultaneously at the Fundació Joan Miró and the Museu Picasso de Barcelona, examines their 50-year relationship, which ran between mutual admiration and, as always with artists, rivalry. Organized into six themed sections, the show features more than 250 works. “Miró–Picasso” is part of the Picasso Celebration 1973–2023, a series of 50 worldwide events organized for the 50th anniversary of Picasso’s death. —Jeanne Malle
