The photographer Matthew Porter shoots at dusk in New York and Los Angeles, catching the anxious atmosphere of city life during a pandemic. He refers to his photographs as “sunshine noir,” which can be infinitely more eerie and unexplainable than nighttime noir. In this large-scale exhibition, 84 prints transform the gallery in accordance with Porter’s cinematic vision. —E.C.
