The Masaveu Collection dates back to the 1930s, and almost a century later it’s one of Spain’s most important private art collections. Over the years, five generations of Masaveu family members have added to a collection that includes Medieval and Renaissance masterpieces, Goyas and El Grecos, but also works by Picasso, Braque, Dalí, and Miró. This exhibition, which marks the opening of the foundation’s Madrid headquarters, turns its attention to 19th-century Spain, showing 117 masterpieces in chronological order. —Elena Clavarino
