Mark Zuckerberg on The Vergecast

Facebook is getting a bad rap these days, and its C.E.O. is constantly on the defensive. So it’s refreshing to hear Mark Zuckerberg, in an interview with Casey Newton, geek out about the Metaverse. Zuckerberg said he daydreamed about it in school, but between launching and managing Facebook he never got around to working on it. The interview coincides with the company’s official announcement of a Metaverse product group, which is focused on building a 3-D social space using virtual and augmented reality. If all this sounds high-tech and full of foreboding, it’s because it is. But it’s also our future, and hearing a pioneer talk about it is illuminating. —J.V.
