“Beautiful” may not be the first word that comes to mind when imagining medieval warfare, but absent all the blood and gore, there actually was some beauty present on the battlefield. On loan from the Museo Stibbert in Florence, Italy, a renowned collection of European arms and armor comes to the Frist. Presenting more than 100 rare objects—helmets, swords, full suits of steel, and mounted equestrian figures—the exhibition tells the story of European knights from the Middle Ages, through the Renaissance, and beyond. —Clara Molot
