Jonas Wood grew up amid great art. He was raised in Boston, on intimate terms with a collection, his grandfather’s, that included works by Francis Bacon, Alexander Calder, Robert Motherwell, and Andy Warhol. After graduating from college, Wood moved to Los Angeles and landed a job as studio assistant to Laura Owens. During those early years, he played with photo montages of himself and his friends, using them to make collages. Now Wood, 46, uses photo collages to make drawings, and the drawings to make graphic paintings in bold colors. This exhibition contains over 100 works, hung salon-style. Spanning two decades of his career, it’s Wood’s biggest survey yet. —Elena Clavarino
