A century ago, bands in this hall were actually crammed onto a narrow ledge halfway up the wall. That might be oddly fitting for Brooklyn’s Harriet Tubman (Brandon Ross, Melvin Gibbs, J. T. Lewis), whose riveting mix of banshee guitar, seismically shifting bass riffs, and battery-acid drums has the brooding, yearning anguish of a panther pacing its cage. —E.E.
