The 12,500-acre ranch surrounding the Tippet Rise Art Center isn’t a place where you can just waltz in. Art lovers lucky enough to score a $10 seat on the van tour can anticipate a two-and-a-half-hour road trip past works on a Pharaonic scale by the likes of Alexander Calder, Louise Nevelson, Richard Serra, and Ai Weiwei. Tickets for 2025 are all gone, but if you’re in Big Sky, monitor the Web site. Same advice applies if you’re tempted by the wide-ranging chamber-music series. In his fourth Tippet Rise season, the multitalented Sir Stephen Hough performs, in tandem with the string players of the Viano Quartet, his own piano quintet Les Noces Rouges, inspired by a nightmarish incident in Willa Cather’s My Antonía. Additionally, Sir Stephen gives a solo recital devoted to Schubert, Brahms, Schoenberg, Stockhausen, Schuman’s epic Carnaval, and his own (Hough’s) Lang Lang-ready arrangement of the Scherman Brothers’ Mary Poppins Suite. Other highlights include the pianist George Li’s account of Schumann’s Davidsbündlertänze and Stravinsky’s Three Movements from “Petrushka”—and from Brooklyn Rider, the string quartet beyond boroughs, an evening that reaches from Haydn to Bob Dylan’s “The Times They Are A-Changin’.” —Matthew Gurewitsch
