Frieze New York—now in its 13th edition—returns to the Shed for five days this May, with 67 galleries coming together to celebrate the city’s creativity. Highlights include Focus—an initiative dedicated to emerging galleries—and The Pin, a new performance by the Berlin-based artist Pilvi Takala. Up-and-coming galleries are hosting openings downtown, and there are after-show parties! Galleries to keep an eye on include Massimo de Carlo (from Milan), Kurimanzutto (from Mexico City), and Victoria Miro (from London). Don’t miss the Artist Plate Project, an initiative that sees 50 renowned artists—including Amoako Boafo, Amy Sherald, and Cecily Brown—painting on plates to support the Coalition for the Homeless. —Elena Clavarino
