YËS is for the littles ones—and also for us big oafs who are helpless before stories told by pratfall and somersault to a comic DIY score of whistling and body slaps and thumps. The Moroccan-born choreographer Fouad Boussouf met the two men for this duet, Yanice Djae and Sébastien Vague, a decade ago, when they were young teenagers honing their dance chops on the streets of Vitry-sur-Seine, six miles southeast of Paris. This industrial immigrant town happened to be the exact right place for the lads: a laboratory for burgeoning French hip-hop. The 30-minute piece, for ages four and up, delivers their friendship and ambitions, from then till now, in charmingly broad and comic strokes. It says yes yes yes to a life of accident and serendipity. —Apollinaire Scherr
