The phantom returns! Two years ago, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical ended its 35-year Broadway run. Despite the fact that it was the longest-running production in the theater district’s history, Webber, 77, didn’t think it was long enough. “Ludicrous,” he told The New York Times reporter Michael Paulson. And so the composer is now introducing Masquerade, a $25-million immersive reimagining of the classic. Admitted in groups of 60 (with six groups per night), guests will wander through six floors of a lavish 19th-century building, encountering scenes, songs, and ornate settings from the story. A cast of 38 actors moves through the space as the tale unfolds—this time largely from the phantom’s point of view, with new music and a more in-depth back story. Festive attire and masks—in black, white, or silver—are required for entry. Stilettos are strictly forbidden. —Jeanne Malle
