In the past, the Five Senses Festival in Litchfield, Connecticut—its pink granite amphitheater hand-carved by sculptor Mark Mennin—has offered dance, music, and comedy performances, film screenings, and talks with writers and photographers. The festival space, peppered with sculptures by Wendell Castle, Nicole Eisenman, and Nick Cave, endures, but this year its organizers, the Pilobolus Dance Group and art collectors Tim and Stephanie Ingrassia, must adapt to new realities. On the docket: a “Five Senses Safari” that invites visitors to tour the “wild imagination of Pilobolus” in their cars. “There is still a community of artists in the woods,” says Ingrassia, “and fortunately there is room here to spread out.” —J.V.
