Even giants eventually fall. Over the past few years this is what’s happened to Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Roger Federer, the “Big Three” who dominated professional tennis for over two decades and lately have faced the consequences of age. Yes, it’s true that Djokovic (who won three Majors last year) and Nadal remain active. But both battle significant injuries. Then, of course, there is Federer, who hung up his racket in 2022. He announced that he would retire at that year’s Laver Cup, and the tournament became an emotional sendoff—for him and for his era. In the somber Federer: Twelve Final Days, we go behind the curtain of this goodbye and observe Federer as he grapples with the fast-approaching finale of his career, surrounded by friends, family, and the players he faced in thrilling matches. There is little tennis in this film, but there is great depth. —Jack Sullivan
