The New York Times recently reported that there are 52 quintillion possible versions of the latest documentary about Brian Eno. It’s the only way that the prolific artist would agree to having the documentary made. Eno is directed by the filmmaker Gary Hustwit, whose debut feature film, Helvetica, is all about the font—its origins and its omnipresence. The same could be said of Eno, whose decades-long influence on music is nearly impossible to itemize. In making Eno, Hustwit utilized a software program specifically designed to create generative versions of the film, meaning that every viewing is slightly different. That said, there is currently no way to watch the film at home. Following its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival last January, Eno has been screened only a handful of times. It now comes to New York City for a seven P.M. screening. Here’s hoping one of the 52 quintillion versions will eventually make its way into our TVs and computer screens. —Zack Hauptman
