Johannesburg’s long-awaited Inside Out Centre for the Arts opens to the public on March 28. Founded by the American expat photographer Roger Ballen, the widely anticipated cultural hub begins with the inaugural exhibition “End of the Game,” which explores the colonialist-led destruction of South Africa’s native wildlife. Ballen, who has dedicated his long and celebrated career to honoring the physical land of his chosen home, intends to focus the Centre’s exhibitions and educational programs around “powerful, thought-provoking themes related to the African continent.” The story told in “End of the Game” comes to viewers through a combination of art and documentary-style archival content. —Lucy Horowitz
