Marjorie Merriweather Post was the daughter of C. W. Post, who made a fortune with his Grape-Nuts and corn flakes. When he died in 1914, she inherited his company. An heiress, a businesswoman, a socialite, and a philanthropist, Marjorie was also a collector. One of her great estates, Hillwood, in Washington, D.C., operates as a museum holding her collections of art and artifacts. Post loved intricate textiles, and her collection includes important historical pieces from France and Russia, as well as family pieces made by older female relatives. Contemporary works by fiber artists such as Manca Ahlin and Sophia Narrett are also included in this show. —Laura Jacobs
