Edward Burtynsky is known for his large-scale aerial photographs of the Earth’s surfaces. The Canadian artist’s images portray places around the world where man’s industrial presence suggests danger verging on dystopia. Among many achievements, Burtynsky won the 2005 TED Prize and the 2016 Governor General’s Award in Visual and Media arts. The exhibition “Natural Commodities” focuses on the disparity between untouched nature and humankind’s tightening grasp on what’s left of it. Several photographs were taken by drone between 2022 and 2024. —Henry McGrath
