“If a man devotes himself to art, much evil is avoided that happens otherwise if one is idle,” said the German painter Albrecht Dürer, Northern Europe’s most influential Renaissance artist. Recognized for his versatility, Dürer showed mastery in painting, drawing, engraving, and printmaking. His works dealt with matters relevant to both the general public and the elite, as he was deeply interested in exploring new perceptions of humanity. Featuring the artist’s most exquisite pieces from the Royal Collection, this exhibition explores the ways Dürer fixed his legacy in art history. —Nyla Gilstrap
