Ancient Chinese creation myths take the stage in four living tableaux by the entrancing Huang Ruo, a Chinese-born American who has served as composer-in-residence to Amsterdam’s formidable Concertgebouw. This time, he’s working not on the symphonic scale but with a chamber ensemble made up of 12 singing voices plus two percussionists. The visuals are from the wizardly hands of Basil Twist, puppeteer and MacArthur genius, operating here on the grand scale. Paul Hillier of Ars Nova conducts. —M.G.
