In mischief, inspiration, and rebellion, the words of graffiti artists are sprayed on trains, brick walls, and freeway overpasses—blank “canvases” just begging for paint. Eventually, some of these artists move on to self-contained imagery. Acknowledging this evolution, “Beyond Words” presents work by RISK (Kelly Graval), Okuda San Miguel, Shephard Fairey, Beau Stanton, and Vhils. —L.J.
