Richard Linklater’s Before Sunrise series begins in 1995, when its stars Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke, impossibly young, meet on a train going from Budapest to Vienna. What follows is a trilogy whose appeal is much deeper than the eternal subject of young love, simply because the actors age. The second film, Before Sunset, was made nine years after the first, in 2004, when the actors were in their early 30s. The third, Before Midnight, came nine years after that—they are now the parents of twin girls. A vacation in Greece is the setting of this last film, making it perfect for a midsummer trip to the theater. —Julia Vitale
