When the art galleries Juana de Aizpuru and Arco Madrid started ARCOmadrid in 1982, their aim was to keep up during a period of rapid modernization in the country. Now, 93,000 visitors from around the world fly into the Spanish capital every year. For the fair’s 45th edition, 206 galleries and over 1,300 artists from 36 countries are joining forces at IFEMA. The bonds between Spanish and Latin American art are central to the program. Don’t miss the “Opening” section, which showcases up-and-coming galleries. —Elena Clavarino
