“The greatest shoemaker in England,” Manolo Blahník once said, “used to be the royal shoemaker for the Queen Mother. This is where I learnt my trade.” The Wallace Collection was no small part of Blahník’s education, its wealth of 17th- and 18th-century art a tutorial in salon and court style. This exhibition places Blahník’s reimagined d’Orsays, pumps, and mules among the paintings that inspired them. —L.J.
