“I’m drawing now because I need to,” says the artist Torkwase Dyson. “I feel a chorus in my space of solitude and I’m making because of it.” The year 2020 has been one of upheaval, and art has been a place of refuge—not just for those who view it, but for those who make it. The Drawing Center presents 100 drawings by contemporary artists, works that date from the pandemic’s early winter days to the autumn. Among the artists are Maurizio Cattelan, Francesco Clemente, Cao Fei, Rashid Johnson, and William Kentridge. —E.C.
