Pom Harrington grew up in the rare-book trade, working Saturdays at his father’s side before joining the family business full-time in 1994. His father, Peter Harrington, had started out with a stall at Chelsea Antiques Market in 1969; together, they went on to establish the rare-book dealership that bears his father’s name, now the largest in the U.K. and Europe. Today, Pom advises collectors on everything from literary first editions to deeply specialized libraries, drawing on decades spent handling some of the world’s most remarkable books. He is a collector himself, having begun with inscribed editions of Roald Dahl, his favorite author as a child. His philosophy? Collect what you love. Here, his picks
