My Favorite Things

Designer Jenni Kayne understands the fine art of living, California-style. She initially got her start in fashion with a collection of low-maintenance, neutral classics that lent themselves nicely to mixing and matching. Now, she also creates an alluring collection of goods for the home as well. Many of them are on display at the Ranch House, a home in Santa Ynez that Kayne and her team renovated and designed as a means of informing and inspiring the design set. Her essentials of the moment all aim to enhance the routines of daily life

Ritual Oil

“I can’t live without the Oak Essentials Ritual Oil. Not only does it smell amazing, but it has blue tansy which helps calm inflammation. I use this morning and night in place of my moisturizer and it gives my skin such an incredible glow.”

Aspen Ceramic Candle

“Everyone is always asking what candle I’m burning when they walk into my house and the answer is almost always this! I love how the scent carries and fills the room without feeling overbearing, and I think the beautiful ceramic vessel adds something special to any space.”

Boyfriend Cardigan

“My daily uniform almost always consists of some sort of lightweight sweater, and right now this is the piece I’m wearing on repeat. It looks great unbuttoned and layered over a tank or worn with just a simple bralette underneath. I also love that it’s made from undyed alpaca, which gives it a perfectly lightweight feel.”

The Row

$2,350

Everyday Small Textured-Leather Tote

“I was searching endlessly for the perfect bag for spring and then I found this. From the size and color to the classic construction, every detail makes it the ultimate investment piece that I know I’ll be loving for years to come. I also love how I can fit all of my essentials in it and how it completely pulls any look together.”

Khaite

The Daria Stretch Jeans in Montgomery

“Finding a pair of jeans that delivers on comfort, fit, and versatility can be tough, but this pair really checks every box. I love the shade of the wash and how high-waisted they are—I actually hemmed mine a tiny bit so that my ankle peeks out to give them a casual yet polished feel.”

Cotton Crossover Sandal

“Our Cotton Crossover Sandal is my go-to for the warmer months ahead. The footbed molds to your feet so it’s incredibly comfortable and it happens to look good with everything, whether it’s a casual dress or a pair of jeans. I have this style in almost every color and I think it’s as classic as they come.”

Rimowa

$740

Essential Cabin Suitcase

“I try to travel with a carry-on whenever possible, so having a bag that’s dependable and well-designed is an absolute must. I love the clean, minimalist look and the fact that it can hold everything I need for a weekend away.”

The GoodLinen

From $18

Linen Coasters Set

“I think Etsy is such a great resource for home essentials that feel unique and special. I purchased these linen coasters in several colors so that I can play with different variations around my house. I keep sets on all my coffee tables, I use them to set the dining room table, have them in our bedrooms, and by the bar—truly a home staple.”
