She has unmistakable hot-pink hair and was part of London’s Punk scene, but even more unforgettable is the Zandra Rhodes aesthetic. From gloriously patterned silks of her own design—worthy of the Ballets Russes—she cuts dresses touched with antiquity (think Botticelli, or Athena) yet completely contemporary. Rhodes’s influence on fashion is incalculable and her love of textiles saw the founding of London’s Fashion and Textile Museum, in 2003. Now the museum returns the favor, honoring Rhodes with a retrospective that includes 100 key looks, as well as 50 original textiles. —L.J.
