Warren Isensee

Aug 12–28, 2020
525 W 22nd St, New York, NY 10011, United States

Warren Isensee’s paintings, brightly colored shapes executed with a surgeon’s hand, look ready to jump off the canvas. A Geometric Abstractionist, his forms are pointedly flat, perfectly symmetrical, and often outlined with thick black lines. Although Isensee paints with a free hand, his patterns vibrate with their own evolved life. And he doesn’t take himself too seriously, giving his paintings names like Rise and Shine, Pillow Talk, and LOL. Energetic and dynamic, these paintings put the “op” in optimism. —E.C.
