Many heroes of American cinema are famously not American. The director Wim Wenders became one of them in 1984, with the release of Paris, Texas, starring Nastassja Kinski and Harry Dean Stanton. To mark the German filmmaker’s 80th birthday, the Bundenskunsthalle is celebrating him with an exhibition that includes objects, props, and behind-the-scenes material, as well as an immersive installation that recreates the world of his cinema. Wenders is presented as a multidisciplinary artist who has also worked in the mediums of drawing, collage, and photography. —Jimmy Lux Fox
