What a perfect pas de deux—classical dance and the Untermyer Park and Gardens. Both partake of form, clarity, and arabesques. Tom Gold Dance comes to the Untermyer Gardens for its fourth summer program in as many years. Gold is well remembered for his indelible dancing at the New York City Ballet, where he put his stamp on ballets old and new. As choreographer for his own company, Gold is devoted to musicality, classical ideals, and the particular beauty of women on pointe. With tall columns, winged statues, and green spaces as a backdrop, the company presents Gold’s Counterpoint, Lavender is all the Rage, Suite Français, and the poignant duet from Uncanny. The dancers are young talents from N.Y.C.B., among them the fabulous Jules Mabie (who was just promoted to N.Y.C.B. soloist), Savannah Durham, Lauren Collett, and Ruby Lister. —Laura Jacobs
