Only two achievements have eluded the English commentator and former superstar striker Gary Lineker: winning a top-flight league title and hosting his own football show. Lineker retired from the pitch 30 years ago, rendering the former impossible. So instead he’s gone with the latter—a podcast entitled The Rest is Football, created hot on the heels of his recent BBC suspension (he had criticized the U.K.’s new asylum policy as “immeasurably cruel”). Alongside co-hosts Alan Shearer and Micah Richards—Wembley legends themselves—the new series from Goalhanger Podcasts (the same production company behind the excellent The Rest is History) offers coverage that’s more casual, candid, and comical than Lineker’s typical televised reporting. Despite the lighthearted banter, however, The Rest is Football provides valuable analysis from some of football’s most talented and insightful personalities. —Jack Sullivan
