The Other Kabul: Remains of the Garden

Latifa Zafar Attaii, Thousand Individuals, In Progress, 2021–22.

Sept 3 – Dec 4, 2022
Hofstettenstrasse 14, 3600 Thun, Switzerland

The Afghan capital of Kabul was once famous for its blossoming gardens. Overgrowing plants meandered in hidden alleyways, and magnificent greenery sprawled out across its squares. Though the city may not be green today, it is hoped that spring will come again. Using the garden as a central motif, 20 Afghan and non-Afghan artists reflect on the country’s past and future. —Elena Clavarino
