Pierre Huyghe makes art that is like weather. His environments combine living organisms, A.I. systems, biological processes, and film. His work Untilled, presented at Documenta 13 in 2012, introduced a beehive colony and a reclining figure with a beehive for a head. After ALife Ahead transformed a Münster ice rink into something between a coral reef and a computer simulation. Liminal, most recently seen in Venice at Punta della Dogana, follows a faceless, humanoid figure through what Huyghe calls a realm with no beginning, no end, no inside or outside. This show at Fondation Beyeler, conceived specifically for the Renzo Piano building, brings together new works and key pieces from the past few years. The rooms, one suspects, will not behave like rooms. —Elena Clavarino
