Though sprung from Ukrainian shtetls in adjoining oblasts, the clans of pianist Josh Harlow and drummer Jonathan Taylor sing wildly disparate melodies at the Passover seder. Here, adding bass and reeds, they lead those melodies through the Sinai of free jazz, where—refusing to slide into a facile ethnic groove—the project justifies its crypto-Ivesian name: a Talmudic tag for an unanswered question. —E.E.
