Starting in the late 1980s, birth defect rates in Corby, Northamptonshire, soared to 10 times higher than normal for a town of its size. The cause was the redevelopment of an old steel mill, a project launched by local government: from 1984 to 1999 large amounts of environmental toxins were released into the town’s atmosphere. Drawing comparisons to the movie Erin Brockovich, this four-part drama follows a group of mothers who seek justice for themselves and their children.
