Collier Landry and Terra Newell are no strangers to trauma. When Landry was just 11 years old, his father brutally murdered his mother while he was in the next room. Terra Newell was a young woman when her stepfather—known as Dirty John and the subject of the Netflix show of the same name, starring Connie Britton—tried to stab her in the parking lot outside her apartment building. She was forced to kill him in self-defense. Now advocates for PTSD awareness, Landry and Newell draw on their personal experiences with trauma to help other survivors share their stories. Guests include Amanda Knox, who was a 20-year-old American exchange student when she was wrongly convicted for her roommate’s murder, and Rita Isbell, the sister of one of Jeffrey Dahmer’s victims. —Paulina Prosnitz
