Most people know film director Steve McQueen as the man who made 12 Years a Slave and the more recent heist movie Widows. What you might not know is that he’s also a conceptual artist, virtuosic in the medium of film and video installation, and that he received the prestigious Turner Prize in 1999. Presented in collaboration with the Tate Modern, the museum showcases pieces by McQueen dating from 2000 to the present, and premieres a new work, too. —Elena Clavarino
